In a midlife crisis, I decided to enter grad school and impoverish myself. I've realized that with all that financial aid I could have bought a Ferrari, but it's "intellectual capital" that I've invested in. So I've been told. Born in Sacramento, California. Lives now in the city of St. Paul in a 'hood resembling a Midwestern SoHo, except a lot quieter and cheaper. Realistic but not cynical. Open to new things, but glad I am not 25 anymore. Continually broke, but what's money good for if it doesn't make you happy? I have three kids, two who have flown the nest, one who just shipped off for college. I also have a cat who increasingly believes she is entitled to the same treatment as a human child. She likes pastries and donuts, and if I indulge, she expects me to share. I also have two rats. Not by choice. But they're cute.
